What NoChargeback reads from Braintree
Braintree exposes disputes through its API and sends webhook notifications when a dispute is opened, won or lost. NoChargeback listens to those events and reads the dispute together with the original transaction, so every case starts with the full picture instead of a bare reason code.
-
The dispute record with its reason, amount, status and reply by date.
-
The original transaction with AVS and CVV results, 3D Secure status and the customer IP address when you pass it.
-
Customer details, billing and shipping addresses and the order history linked to the same customer.
-
Refunds and credits already issued on the transaction, so we never argue a dispute you already settled.
Permissions and credentials we ask for
You create an API key in the Braintree Control Panel (public key, private key and merchant ID) for a user whose role is limited to what NoChargeback needs. That means read access to transactions and disputes plus the right to add dispute evidence and finalize a dispute. Nothing else.
NoChargeback never issues refunds, captures or voids transactions, changes settlement or touches payouts. Keys are encrypted at rest and you can revoke them in Braintree at any time. Details on how we store credentials are on the security page.
Which dispute data we ingest and which evidence we fill
Each new Braintree chargeback lands in your NoChargeback queue with the network reason code mapped to a plain explanation, for example Visa reason code 10.4 or Mastercard reason code 4837. We then build the evidence pack that fits that reason.
-
Text evidence with the drafted rebuttal letter written for the reason code.
-
File evidence such as the invoice, delivery confirmation, usage or login logs and your terms and refund policy acceptance.
-
Authentication proof from the transaction (3D Secure, AVS and CVV matches) and the customer IP and location match.
-
Prior undisputed orders from the same customer, which supports Compelling Evidence 3.0 style arguments for fraud disputes.
You review the pack, edit any line and see exactly what goes to Braintree before it is sent.

1
Step 1 Create a limited API user in Braintree
In the Braintree Control Panel, add a user or role that can view transactions and disputes and manage dispute evidence, then generate an API key for it.
-
2
Step 2 Paste the keys into NoChargeback
Open Integrations in your NoChargeback workspace, choose Braintree and enter the merchant ID, public key and private key. We test the connection with a read call and show the result.
-
3
Step 3 Point the dispute webhook to NoChargeback
Add the webhook URL shown in your workspace to Braintree and select the dispute events. New disputes then reach you in real time by email or Slack.
-

Step 4 Import open disputes and set your rules
NoChargeback pulls the disputes that are already open, calculates each deadline and lets you choose which reasons go out automatically and which wait for your review.
Deadline countdown and submission
Every dispute shows a countdown to the reply by date Braintree sets on the case. On Growth and higher plans, which include Braintree, NoChargeback submits the evidence automatically by default 48 hours before the due date. You can change that window, or switch any reason code to manual review and submit the pack with one click. Either way the evidence is added to the dispute and the dispute is finalized, so it reaches the issuer instead of sitting as a draft. More on this workflow is on the dispute automation page.
Which plans include Braintree
Braintree is available from the Growth plan, which connects up to 5 accounts across Stripe, Shopify, PayPal and Braintree, with 100 disputes and 1,000 alerts a month. Scale and Enterprise include Braintree too, alongside every other integration. Plans are a flat subscription with no per alert fee and no cut of the money you recover. See all limits on the pricing page.
Can NoChargeback refund or move money in my Braintree account?
No. The API user you create only reads transactions and disputes and adds dispute evidence. NoChargeback never issues refunds, captures, voids or payouts.
Does NoChargeback finalize Braintree disputes for me?
Yes. After the evidence is added, NoChargeback finalizes the dispute so Braintree sends it to the issuer. By default this happens automatically 48 hours before the due date, or you confirm it with one click when a reason code is set to manual review.
Which Braintree payment methods are covered?
NoChargeback reads disputes Braintree exposes on card transactions, including the network reason code. Disputes on other payment methods appear when Braintree reports them through the same dispute API.
