What Visa RDR is and how it works
Verifi is a Visa company. RDR sits inside the issuer's dispute flow. When a cardholder disputes a Visa payment, the issuer starts the case as usual. Before it becomes a chargeback, RDR looks at your rules. If the dispute matches a rule that says "resolve", the cardholder gets a credit at once and the case is closed. If no rule matches, the dispute continues as a normal chargeback and you can fight it with evidence.
Because the decision is made by rules, not by a person, there is no alert to answer and no deadline to watch for the cases you choose to resolve. That is the key difference from most other pre dispute tools.
In Visa's programs, cases resolved through RDR are generally not treated as chargebacks in your dispute count. Reporting can differ by acquirer, so confirm with yours how it counts these cases.
Rapid dispute resolution rules you can set
Rules are built from the data on the dispute. Common choices are amount, reason code category and card details. Typical rules look like this.
| Rule | Why merchants use it |
|---|---|
| Resolve all disputes under 25 USD | The fee and time to fight cost more than the order |
| Resolve fraud claims on digital goods that were never used | Usage proof is weak, so a win is unlikely |
| Resolve "not as described" on a product you are phasing out | Quick exit without ratio damage |
| Never resolve disputes on orders with signed delivery | Strong evidence makes these worth fighting |
| Never resolve disputes above 500 USD | Large orders go to a person for review |
The amounts above show how rules are written. You choose your own numbers. Every rule is opt in, off by default, and you can change or pause it at any time.
Which disputes to resolve and which to fight
Setting RDR rules is a trade off. Resolve too much and you give away revenue you could have won. Resolve too little and the cases count against your ratio and cost a fee that is typically 15 to 100 USD per dispute depending on your processor.
NoChargeback helps you set the line with your own history. The reason code analytics show which dispute types you usually win and which you usually lose. The ratio monitor shows how close you are to the Visa threshold. With both on one screen, you can resolve the cases you would likely lose anyway and keep fighting the ones where your evidence is strong.

CDRN vs RDR, what is the difference
Both programs come from Verifi and both act before a chargeback. They work in different ways.
| Verifi CDRN | Visa RDR | |
|---|---|---|
| How it starts | Alert sent to the merchant after the cardholder complains | Issuer starts a dispute and RDR checks your rules |
| Who decides | You, case by case, within the alert window | Your rules, set in advance |
| Speed | Depends on how fast you respond | Instant |
| Best for | Cases you want to look at before refunding | Clear patterns you always want to resolve |
| Card coverage | Visa issuers in the program | Visa |
Many merchants use both. RDR handles clear patterns without any work, CDRN alerts catch the rest. On Scale and Enterprise, NoChargeback brings CDRN, RDR and Ethoca alerts for Mastercard into one feed.
Visa Order Insight and fewer disputes in the first place
Order Insight is another Verifi service. When a cardholder calls their bank about a charge, the issuer can pull order details from the merchant: what was bought, when, and where it was shipped. When the cardholder recognizes the purchase, the dispute usually stops there.
NoChargeback supplies order data from your connected accounts for Order Insight and Compelling Evidence 3.0 on Scale and Enterprise. Read more about Compelling Evidence 3.0 for repeat customers who claim fraud.
Visa RDR on a flat plan
| Plan | Monthly | Billed yearly, per month | Accounts | Alerts per month | Visa RDR |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | 49 USD | 24 USD | 1 | 100 | Not included |
| Growth | 299 USD | 149 USD | 5 | 1,000 | Not included |
| Scale | 799 USD | 399 USD | 20 | 5,000 | Included |
| Enterprise | 1,999 USD | 999 USD | 100 | 20,000 | Included |
There is no per case fee from NoChargeback and no share of recovered money. Paying yearly saves 50 percent. Note that the amount refunded to the cardholder through RDR is still a refund from your account, as with any refund.
What is rapid dispute resolution
Rapid dispute resolution is a Visa service run by Verifi that refunds a cardholder automatically when a new dispute matches rules the merchant set in advance. The case closes before it becomes a chargeback.
Does a dispute resolved by RDR count toward my chargeback ratio
Generally no, cases resolved through RDR are not treated as chargebacks in Visa's dispute count. Acquirers can report differently, so check with yours.
What is the difference between CDRN and RDR
CDRN sends you an alert and you decide case by case, while RDR decides instantly using rules you set in advance. CDRN suits cases you want to review, RDR suits clear patterns.
Which NoChargeback plans include Visa RDR
Visa RDR is included in the Scale and Enterprise plans, together with Verifi CDRN, Ethoca alerts, Order Insight and Compelling Evidence 3.0 data.
Can I stop RDR from refunding certain orders
Yes, you control every rule. You can exclude amounts, reason codes or order types, pause a rule or turn RDR rules off completely, and rules are off by default.
