What Chargeback.io offers
Chargeback.io is a pre dispute alert service. It enrolls your merchant account in the card network programs, Mastercard Ethoca, Visa RDR and Verifi CDRN, and when a cardholder starts a dispute it refunds the order automatically so the case closes before it turns into a chargeback. Its homepage describes the job in one line: it prevents chargebacks by alerting you and allowing refunds before they occur.
Setup is quick. The site says you connect a processor in about two minutes with no developer, and it lists Stripe, Shopify Payments, Braintree, Airwallex, Chargebee and Recurly, plus Slack for notifications. Its pricing table shows no monthly minimum and no contract, so a quiet month costs almost nothing.
What it does not sell is the response side. The homepage does not describe fighting chargebacks after they are filed, and its own comparison posts list remediation vendors as a separate category. So a merchant using Chargeback.io still needs a way to answer every dispute that slips past the alerts.
Per alert pricing or one flat plan
Per alert pricing ties your bill to how many customers complain. A product launch, a billing descriptor customers do not recognize or one bad shipping week can double the alert count, and the invoice doubles with it.
NoChargeback prices the other way. Every plan, limit and price is on the pricing page, and the price stays the same whether you get 20 alerts or 2,000. Scale, the plan with Ethoca, Verifi CDRN and Visa RDR rules, is 799 USD a month, or 399 USD a month billed yearly, for up to 5,000 alerts and 400 disputes with automatic submission.
The trade is simple. If you see fewer than about 14 Ethoca alerts or 27 RDR alerts a month, Chargeback.io's per alert price is lower than Scale billed yearly. Above that, the flat plan wins, and the gap widens every month you grow.

-
Growth at 299 USD a month, or 149 USD a month billed yearly. Five accounts, 100 disputes, 1,000 alerts, automatic submission, prevention rules, Slack and 3 seats.
-
Scale at 799 USD a month, or 399 USD a month billed yearly. Twenty accounts, all integrations, 400 disputes, 5,000 alerts, Ethoca and Verifi CDRN alerts, Visa RDR rules, API access and 10 seats.
-
Enterprise at 1,999 USD a month, or 999 USD a month billed yearly. 100 accounts, 1,500 disputes, 20,000 alerts, SSO, audit log and an SLA.
No plan charges a percentage of recovered chargebacks, and there is no per alert fee inside the plan limit.
What 60 alerts a month cost on each model
This is list price math, not a result. Assume a subscription store gets 60 network alerts a month, 30 from Mastercard through Ethoca and 30 from Visa through RDR, plus 25 disputes that were never alerted.
- 1 Chargeback.io alerts: 30 x 29 USD = 870 USD, plus 30 x 15 USD = 450 USD. That is 1,320 USD a month, or 15,840 USD a year.
- 2 The 25 unalerted disputes still need a response. With Chargeback.io you add a second tool or answer them by hand, so put your own cost on that line.
- 3 NoChargeback Scale covers the 60 alerts and the 25 disputes inside its limits of 5,000 alerts and 400 disputes. That is 4,788 USD for the year billed yearly, or 799 USD a month billed monthly.
- 4 At these numbers the flat plan is about 11,000 USD a year cheaper before counting any dispute work. At 10 alerts a month the answer flips: Chargeback.io would cost about 220 USD and is the better buy.
Run the same four lines with your own alert export. Per alert rates for similar vendors are broken down in Chargeblast pricing and what each alert costs.
When Chargeback.io may fit better
-
You get only a few network alerts a month and want to pay nothing in a quiet month.
-
You only want alerts and already have a person or a tool that answers filed disputes.
-
Your processor is Airwallex, Chargebee or Recurly and you need that connection today.
-
You want auto refunds on every alert with no rules to configure.
How to switch from Chargeback.io
- 1 Connect your processor. NoChargeback asks for read access and dispute evidence permission only and never moves money. The security page lists exactly what is requested.
- 2 Turn on chargeback alerts and confirm the enrollment before you turn off Chargeback.io, so there is no day without pre dispute coverage. Mastercard details are on the Ethoca alerts page and Visa rules on the Visa RDR page.
- 3 Decide which alerts to refund automatically and which to fight. Refunding a 9 USD order makes sense; refunding a 900 USD order with signed delivery may not.
- 4 Set dispute automation rules for your top reason codes, so disputes that arrive without an alert get an evidence pack too.
- 5 Watch your Visa and Mastercard dispute ratios in the chargeback ratio monitor for the first month while both systems overlap.
How much does Chargeback.io cost?
Chargeback.io charges per alert. Its pricing page lists 29 USD for each Ethoca alert from Mastercard, 15 USD for each Visa RDR alert and 15 USD for each Verifi CDRN alert, which covers Visa in the United States. The comparison table on that page shows no monthly minimum and no contract.
Does Chargeback.io fight chargebacks?
Its homepage describes prevention only: alerts and automatic refunds before a dispute becomes a chargeback. It does not describe representment for chargebacks that are already filed, so most merchants pair it with a separate dispute tool or answer those cases by hand.
Is Chargeback.io cheaper than Chargeblast?
On published rates, slightly. Chargeback.io lists 15 USD for RDR and CDRN and 29 USD for Ethoca, while listings report Chargeblast at about 19 USD for RDR and CDRN and 29 USD for Ethoca. Both bill per alert, so both cost more as your alert count grows.
What is the best Chargeback.io alternative for a growing store?
A flat plan that covers alerts and disputes together. NoChargeback Scale includes Ethoca, Verifi CDRN and Visa RDR rules, 5,000 alerts and 400 disputes for 399 USD a month billed yearly, which is cheaper than per alert pricing once you pass about 15 to 25 alerts a month.
